Australian online platform Umall has acquired Asian Grocer Online (AGO) as part of a broader strategy to expand its footprint in the multicultural grocery sector.
Umall described the acquisition as a “key milestone” in its ongoing growth journey. As part of the integration process, AGO’s website is currently offline while system upgrades are underway. A fully revamped, unified platform combining the strengths of both brands is expected to launch soon.
“Now, by integrating AGO’s category expertise and loyal customer base, Umall will further strengthen its leadership in the multicultural grocery space and expand its reach across Australia,” the company said.
The acquisition follows Umall’s launch last year of a new online Asian supermarket, aimed at offering a wider range of culturally diverse products delivered directly to consumers’ doorsteps.
Umall also credits its rapid growth to investment in AI, automation, and robotics, claiming the technology enables faster, fresher, and more efficient service than traditional retailers.
